Soap Makers Help!

I bought some fat today at the butcher for $1.60. Is that a good price? It was not organ fat but it was big chunks of solid fat with no meat attached. I know I asked about this before but I seem to be a bit dense on this....do I just grind it and put it in a big pot on low in the oven? MLF I did read the tutorial on your website and I'm not sure why I need hand such holding.

Can you tell me again exactly how to do it?

I'm making COFFEE with my distilled water for another version of my Kitchen soap...this one will have lemon eo, distilled brewed coffee (very strong), coffee grounds from the brew, AND PUMICE! (-: I'll post photos when I'm done...I'm excited about the DARK brown coffee color!!

I get a very dark brown from the creme brulee FO I use. At first it turns green poop color and stinky...then, like magic, in a couple of weeks it's great! That's using HP though...

Post a photo when you're done!

I made some Mango Tango last night.

I have the recipe and ordered the oils, bought the hand blender and have done my reseach but I have a couple of questions I hope someone could answer for me......after the soap is poured into a mold some recipes cool it down as fast as possible( putting it in the fridge) and some of them have the mold wrapped to keep it hot for as long as possible, what does either method contribute to the end product? When the fo is added to the soap at slight trace it sometimes seized the soap, why does it do this and how to stop it from happening? Thank you:/

I don't know how it would affect the quality of the soap. I've never wrapped it because I use pringal cans for my mold. If you are using pringal cans then you don't want to ever wrap up the mold. The round, small shape combined with the foil lining will cause it to overheat and overflow out of the mold. (Don't ask me how I know this

I either just try to pour the fo in fast, or if that doesn't work try mixing the fo with your normal oils before pouring in the lye. Other than that I don't know what to do.

Well I braved it and rendered my tallow yesterday. What a project that was. I guess I thought after grinding the fat I would have ended up with less cracklings. Not!! Still got about 5-6 quarts of tallow. Hope it is enough for my Christmas soaping.
