Gaia is definitely very "earthy", but what I was looking for! I wonder how it blends with other stuff.

Thanks, I'm pleased so far. No I got this one from SOS. I ordered this spring, but it is very yummy. Much better soaped than OOB. I'll try them next time. It's so hard to keep up with where the best of what scent comes from where!! I'm saving bottles so I remember next time. I can't wait to cut the yuzu I tried a swirl like you would in a slab mold. It's a medium yellow and burgundy. It went in pretty good.

Next time I'll just buy a cuc melon. It was definitely not worth the trouble. At least not so far. We'll see how scent turns out. It's definitely cucumber-y. Sort of a sweet cucumber. I like it OK. We'll see. And I'll try that method next time.

Welcome to the thread you two!! Definitely read the thread!! It'll take a while but lots of great info and ideas. I reference all the time for ideas/recipes/scents, etc. Also check out the other soap thread. It is newer so not as long but has some good info in it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=480518

I haven't blended it, but I bet it would be really good with cedar. use Q-tips to do some testing on blends.

Cucmber Melon is a sweet fresh scent. The cybilla one from BB smells just like what Bath and Body Works has. The Cucumber Melon from SGS and Camden Grey I don't like quite as much, they are much more cucumber with some musk in there. The one from SW ( I think it is in their value line) has lot of watermelon to it, very candy like.

It is hard getting a line of scents. I don't like having to order all my scents from one suppliers ( you never know if they close or what) but I also don't like having to order just one scent either. have you read the scent review board? Lots of good info there. Also scents seem to vary in how well they will. Some people say they move rose alot, I couldn't give it away. Sometime it is just trial and error.

I did the q-tips on the wake-up rosemary and sandalwood you sent. 2 sandalwood, one rosemary. Worked out pretty good. This morning that loaf is smelling like a mild peppermint, but I havent cut it yet so we'll see.

I can see what you mean about not getting all your scents form one place but at the same time what a pain in the butt to buy form several different places to get the ones that are the best and having to pay 3 or 4 (or 5) different shipping prices. Sheesh!!

So for the record, I'm gonna start a list because it seems like there are favorites but they are so scattered they are hard to remmeber. So just add on any I'm missing or correct any wrong. Or if you don't wanna give away your secrets I understand

Cucumber Melon cybillia - Bramble berry
Yuzu Japanese Grapefruit - Scent Works
Black Raspberry Cream - Scent Works
Oatmeal Milk and Honey - Brambleberry

I've read some on there. It does have some good info. Some of those other boards are hard to negotiate though. If you do a search you still don't get teh info you need.

I just wanted to ask you guys who's honey almond fragrance do you like the best? I want to make some honey almond goat milk soap, but I don't know who has the best fragrance. I want something with a strong almond scent, but with the sweetness of honey, and maybe some vanilla notes.

Ok here is my list of personal favorites.

Oatmeal Milk and Honey from BB, my all time fav
Black Raspberry Cream from SW
Lily and Cantaloupe Day Star or Sw
Cucumber Melon(cybilla) from BB I mix it with peppermint and spearmint eo's for cucumber mint that is selling like hot cakes this summer
Creme de amande Sw
Coconut pear Daystar
Witch's Brew moonworks

Not all of these sell well for me, though they move fast enough that I keep them because I like them lol

As far as best sellers, Lemongrass, Spearmint Eucalyptus(am not a euc fan), lavender, Dragon's Blood, Burberry for men, Stress Relief all move very well for me even though I am not a huge fan of them.

I have hated a few scents lol. Nag Champa, omg gag me. Theives from Moonworks, some mens scent I got form SGS that I can't remember the name, I am thinking Bay Rum but am not sure. Oh and Apple Jack Peel, that one make me want to vomit for some reason even though the scent wasn't horrible, smelling it just hurt my stomache. Pumpkin Lager from BB was yucky to me.

When I was first planning my line, I tried to make sure I had scents from different categories. I tend to really like fruity scents so I have to make sure to I don't have too many of those lol. Love mints too. It is hard to get it all down, but start out with one or two from different categories, fresh, fruity, mens, earthy. Order one from each category from each supplier to help get a gauge on what sells and what doesn't. Right now I would make sure you have aleast one fall type of scent. Pumpkin or cinnamon is good. Good Luck!

I tend to like the herbal scents...and so far I've just used EOs. I'm a little afraid to buy a fragrance oil and then end up hating it. I love everyone's fav's though, it give me an idea of who has the scents that are more popular (at least with us soapers) and who has the "best".

No almond for me either. Sorry.

Oh so OMH from BB? For some reason I thought sweetcakes. I got my from BB and LOVE!! Everyone does!! What does witches brew smell like? UH OH. Pumpkin lager and applejack peel are to that I should get this next week..... eek! I had heard rave reviews about the AJP so decided tp buy some. I love the spearamint eucalyptus. It's manly but not too much!!

Went and looked for the honey almond and several places have it. Only one place was rated and it was given a 4 stars.

But this is a popular site for soapers also

I would personally suggest oatmeal, milk, and honey from brambleberry. It has a "almond-y" scent to me. Similar to the jergens "cherry almond" but much richer and creamier.... not sure if that makes sense. Here's BB's description:
Oatmeal, Milk and Honey:Blended with utmost care, this is the perfect melding of three fabulous scents. Sweet and toasty, this is one soap that you'll want to take a bite out of! Discolors to light tan.

AHAH!!!!! SUCCESS!! sorta

The first batch of cucumber that I thought had seized so bad yesterday was just cut. This was the batch that I blended a bunch extra, added water to and microwaved a bit to save. Thought it was gonna turn out really fluffy and "floapy" but it actually turned out pretty smooth, except for the top. My daughters GT teacher wants me to do a soap demo for her GT class since they are studying science experiments right now, not sure how that'll go but I could give them all a bar of this and call it "Monster Boogers". Kids will love that!!
