Soap Makers Help!

I'm curious about how many people are making money selling soap. Is it a hobby that pays for itself, for you? Is it a source of income? Is it supplemental income or a sole source of income?

I'm just curious if anyone is making a living selling soap.

^ I would like to know this as well.

I have purchased a few items to start making soap, like a stick blender. I couldn't find a digital scale at Walmart so I went to the post office..and they had supposedly run out! So now I need to wait and go to Staples. I couldn't find anything I could use at Goodwill, except for a great measuring cup with a spout. I'm really excited!! I'm losing sleep over this!

ETA: I need help finding a decent digital thermometer that won't break the bank. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Just my opinion-
You have too many fonts.
Limit the label to two fonts.

Maybe something like this:

Sho’ Cendi Nigerian (fancy font, size 16 - note upper and lower case)

GOAT’S MILK SOAP (bold generic/plain font, size 18- note all caps)

Oatmeal Milk & Honey (fancy font, size 12 - note upper & lower case)

Thank you. I ordered a digital scale as well as a digital thermometer that got some good reviews. They will come by Wed. so I hope I can order my lye soon.

ParadisePoultry, I agree with Renee. Too many fonts can be distracting but the goat is cute.

Me too! I watched several youtube videos and it was only after reading a few pages of this thread that I got the "bug." I'm off to try to find coconut oil and olive oil today. I will hopefully be able to start making soap on Thursday or maybe even Wed.!

Do you make soap, Freckle Face Farm?

Soap with confidence today folks, the Soap Gremlins are at my house.

Simple OMH soap with my standard milk soap recipe. The only additions were collodial oatmeal and honey. Came to a light trace nicely, as I was pouring into vertical log mold, it seized! By the time I got it all in the mold, it was gelling. It's on the front porch (since it is cooler out there and the freezers are packed full). It is now separating.

See, even after 12 years of soaping, the gremlins still come to visit.

ARGHHH!

This is a custom order and will probably have to be rebatched tomorrow.

Get your soaping in today while the Gremlins are at my place!
