Hmm. I hope nobody sells them in anything other than the glass amber bottles! I didn't think to ask, but that's a really good point. Any idea how long they usually last? I've never seen an expiration date for FO's. :/

Just different colors. The entire bar is scented with fresh bamboo from BB. I think I had 3 or 4 orders in March and with each, I got a free 1/2 oz sample so I ordered a bigger bottle so I could make my large loaf (36) bars.

BockBock, are there different FO in the bars are just different colors?

Depends where you get them. Sometimes you get the LDPE bottles, which aren't good for longterm storage, but sometimes you'll get PET bottles, which are fine. I'll transfer the ones in LDPE bottles to glass, but leave the PET bottles as is. 'Officially' I've read that FO's are good for a year, but I've had some for several years that smell just as good as ever. Where did you order from?

If you get down towards Harrisburg, I can share some of my spare glass bottles if you need them.

I'm up near State College! I usually buy from Candle Science. They do use small plastic bottles (PET I think), but they're amber at least, lol. I order a few from Brambleberry (well, two, I should say... Their OMH and Energy). I was looking at NG and NDA to get the larger, 16oz sizes, since they're so reasonable and they have scents that Candle Science doesn't have. CS is still my number one though, and I get as many scents as I can through them, but they just don't have everything that I want, lol.

ETA: I somewhat recently used up some FO's that were about two and a half years old... They worked just as fine as the first time.

Yuppers! I love when I find out that forum members are somewhat close.

I also put a small chunk of money down on lye... I was buying 16lbs at a time, but with increased production and a 50% off sale, I dove in and bought 64lbs this time. That should last me a little while!!! If I remember correctly, it'll make about 3,000 bars of soap!

Ok I have to ask do you put actual marijuana in your soap lol by the way I love the smell of the plants so I think its awsome but I have never ever heard of it being used in anything but cookies and brownies =)

Lol! No, I use a fragrance oil, not the actual plant. If it were legal, I'd probably buy some to put in, but alas, it's totally illegal here, lol. I'm also a fan of the smell. Hay smells very similar when you toss it into a wood stove. I used to do it just to smell it, after I figured out that it smelled the same.

I wish there was some way they could make the plant so that it didnt bud or whatever so that people that like the way it looks or smells could use it for that kind of thing .

They should just make the crap legal. I mean, really... Why are cigarettes and booze legal and pot is not? People say it's the "gateway" to other drugs... Well, MAKE IT LEGAL and these people don't have to go to a drug dealer to get pot, and possibly open themselves to trying worse drugs. It's a pure and natural product. They don't have to muck with it to make it into a drug. It's medicinal. Why is it illegal?! I smoked it way back when as a young teen, now I don't (not worth the risks, the cost or the laziness it brings for me), but I still strongly support the legalization, especially because of the many benefits of the plant.
