Soapmaker's advice needed

You can make small batches, if you have a very accurate scale. 1-2 pounds in a good starting point, I would not go any lower than that though. If you are looking for recipes, millersoap.com is the best place. Pick one that has oils you can easily get. I can get lye at tractor supply company.

I would also read through the soap makers thread, a lot of your questions were discussed there.
 
I used one that was Olive oil, coconut and castor oil on the Soap maker's thread... can't remember the oz off the top of my head but it's my favorite soap so far. Very soft! It filled about 7/8 of the pringles can.
 
Here is a soap mold my husband made for me. It will make a 4 lb loaf.

Nice mold Tammy! You are far better at lining than I ever was! I always had wrinkles. Yours looks very smooth.

I was just at the dollar store yesterday and they had some plastic drawer organizers that would make a great log mold. And they were only a $1. You have to line them though.
