I recently bought a small mess of black OE bantams, including a rooster at an auction. Everything went well for a day or two, then something clicked inside the roosters head.
Anytime me, or anyone steps out the back door, this rooster will stop what he's doing, and start running as fast as he can and then stop at my feet, and start squaring off with my boots. If I lift my boots up, or slide my feet towards him, he goes nuts. Jumps up, starts flogging, spurring and pecking my boots. This little dude is a fireball, and I love it!!
If one of my buddies or my girlfriend comes over, this little hothead will run up to us, then go nuts trying to figure out which one of us he's gonna whip first. If we walk around the yard, he keeps right with us, waiting for his moment to strike.
I've never messed with bantams before this week. I've always kept standard RIR's and Brahmas. Is this a trait thats common with the bantams, or Old English's? Cause I've never had this aggressive of a rooster in my life!
I'm not saying I wanna do anything about it...we all get a kick out of an 8" tall rooster that thinks he's 8' tall! I've thought about getting some standard OE's, but if those bigger roosters act like this, I could see where it'd be a problem!
Last thing I need is my bloodhound mad at me cause I brought home a chicken that abuses him!
Thanks!
Cameron
