My female button was laying eggs fine then about 2 weeks ago she started to lay soft eggs no hard shell at all.
she gets fed 24% non medicated chick starter. (the feed store doesnt sell gamebird feed) I add oyster shell to the feed, Ive put her in a cage by herself to see if that helps. Im going to wait a few weeks then put her back with the roo. Is there anything else I can do to get the shells hard again? she used to have very fertile eggs. Ive taken the light away so she will stop laying.

I get chicken feed called layers in the crumbles, that has the high calcium in it. It is for chickens to strengthen their eggs. It worked for me when my buttons started laying soft shelled eggs. Now their eggs are hard again. It is non medicated also, but you can get it in medicated too. They may have that at your feed store. It is available in 24 percent protein.
