I found my 5 year old Spotted Sussex unresponsive the other morning. It was a cold morning (30 in South Florida) so we brought her into the house. She wasn't even able to stand. We didn't think she was going to make it but became responsive, started standing and ate and drank a bit. The next day we found a soft egg but it was only the membrane so we thought that she has a calcium issue. We started feeling her crushed Tums made into a liquid with warm water and gave it to her twice a day. We also gave her some rooster booster.

After the next couple of days she was waking around but she lost her appetite and noticed her crop was soft and not emptying. I was thinking she has sour crop and started giving her generic Miconazile 7 twice a day. It has been 3 days and she has an occasional squirt of watery poop but still not emptying her crop.

I let her out with the rest of the flock yesterday since it was warm and she seemed ok but still not emptying.

She isn't regurgitating and I try to massage but I don't want it to make her vomit.

Also gave her a warm Epsom salt bath yesterday before letting her out with the girls. We've also given her buttermilk for probiotics and some nourishment.

I am worried because she is not eating. Any ideas else I can do?

Thank you.

She may be having some reproductive issues which are causing the crop symptoms.
I'd give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 once daily for a week, see if she's able to expel another egg, material or lash egg.

Work on hydration and address the crop symptom like you are doing. I'll link a good article for you below. I'd also include coconut oil along with the Miconazole to see if that helps get the crop moving. Does it feel bloated or fluid filled?

Thank you. I will get some calcium and yes, her crop is fluid filled and feels like a water balloon.
