We have had our chickens for about a month. They will be two in September. They have been laying an egg each for the last two weeks. The two seem to lay between 8 and 10, so when I seen something in the nesting box, I was surprised, when I investigated more I noticed it was not "normal." For feed, they free range and we also have organic egg layer pellets they have access to 24/7. We also toss their egg shells in "their" yard do they have that as well. Here are two pictures, one of the egg and one of the chickens we have.

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
