Here I sit next to Sechs. She is in a tub of lukewarm water. I am giving her a little (more) extra calcium. And waiting. Two years ago she had a prolapse. But has been fine since.

Trying to decide how much longer tub time will be - it has been about two hours. Not much is left of the membrane but it is still partly inside her. I have some coconut oil here, thinking of lubricating her vent.

(Can you tell I was beside myself? Sech partly laid a soft egg around 6 p.m., but even though all the yolk and 90% of the white came out, the membrane with a little shell material on it was only half out of her vent. She tried passing it for another half hour before I brought her in.)

That might help Amiga, I had a chicken do this last week but finally the membrane passed on it's own Hopefully will be the same for Sechs.

Right after I posted the news, I reached over to stroke her tummy. Sechs likes me very much, but she does not like me being demonstrative. So as I reached over for the umpteenth time to touch her, she twisted herself into a C, and POP - out came the rest of the membrane. It had a thin coating of shell, so it was like wet sandpaper. Ouch. But it's history, now.

Immediately, she began giving me the annoyed noise. She had barely said anything for close to three hours. That's a sign a duck is feeling much better - they get their sass back.

Oh, I cannot tell you how overjoyed I am. My beloved came into the bathroom, because he heard the duck loudly whacking, and his wife whooooting gleefully…. Sechs is with the flock again. whew.

So, readers, please note - 2 hours in the tub, and a little while after a calcium treat.

I wanted to share that, to let others know I know the feelings of helplessness, of reviewing the options and consequences countless times. Nights, weekends, holidays, that's when we have the most problems.

Thanks, Miss Lydia and needlessjunk.
