Morning! I have 4 GC 18 wks old. One has given me her first two eggs this week! I just went out to check and found this...is this normal? I cleaned out the nest box it was in and went about my business. The hen who has been laying was in the opposite nesting box, so I didn't want to disturb her.

Not unusual at all for newly laying pullets to drop a few softies.
Can take up to a month or so for things to smooth out.
Meanwhile, eggs everywhere, some of them can be rather funky looking, soft or thin shelled, huge double yolked eggs.

Yep, completely normal. Just make sure to clean it up, don't want to attract predators or have moldy bedding.

Congrats on first eggs too! .
My pullets are 19 weeks, no eggs yet. But they finally stopped scratching in the nest boxes a week or so ago.
