I bought a Buff (3years) and Pekin (2years) about last July/ Aug. A lot of the eggs they lay are super soft and bust. Even the hard shells seem really brittle.

I have them on the Purina Layena diet and offer oyster shells. They have zero interest in the oyster shells. Is there something else I can do to have them ingest more calcium?or switch food?

They free range in the fenced backyard during the day.

Layena should have enough calcium for all birds that are actively laying, so if you're seeing lots of soft shells I think you might want to supplement those laying softies with some sort of calcium supplement like calcium citrate or calcium gluconate.

Thank you for replying!

I will definitely try making them some scrambled eggs with the shells.

And look into the other forms of calcium. They eat the pellets, but other than that I have a hard time getting them to eat other stuff (veggies and fruits).
