soft eggs

i recently put a question the other day about my neighbours egg laying soft eggs...problem has been sorted the last couple of days but today he found a normal egg and a soft egg off the same chicken...the soft egg was just the shell and no white or egg...the chicken hasnt been well over the last week or two (hence the soft eggs previously - we found out)..he has been separating the chucks when they have been laying...the soft shell looks like a membrane of sorts...any help would be appreciated..

If they have an adequate diet of good food, plenty of water, and shelter, then look for pests such as lice and that sort of thing.
