Soft Quail eggs

Buy a pair of these

I'm getting about six eggs a day out of my six hens, love it. But when we bring them in to crack to eat, the shells are very soft. I need to jam my thumb through in order to crack them. Will an oyster shell supplement harden the shell up so they will crack like a normal egg? Or is this just how they are? Doesn't really bother me either way just wondering. Thanks
They are quail eggs not chicken eggs. Their shell is more fragile and have a comparatively stronger membrane under the shell so even if the shell cracks the contents don't come out like a chicken egg will. Yes on the egg cutters, makes the job of getting the contents out easy and fast. Just cut the large end with the cutters and pour out the contents. You can also use a serrated knife like this.

I used the serrated knife method of opening until I got the cutters. If you have quail you need the cutters!

Thanks a lot, I wasn't sure if they were always like that or just mine. Martha Stewart video really helped;)
