Hi any advice welcome please.

For afew weeks one of our chickens has been laying very thin and soft shells, but also there is no egg inside the shell it is leterally just the soft shell.

We cant figure out which hen it is, but is there anything that can be done?

A FEW QUICK POINT ABOUT THEM

They have conatant supply of oyster shell grit

They have constant supply of layers pellets

Constant supply of water

They free roam in the grass, eat worms etc

Occasionally they have left over veggies rice etc

Thanks Anna

You have left out the most important information. How old are they? If this is a young pullet who is just starting to lay I would not worry at all. My sisters Welsummer laid the ickiest eggs

last fall as she was maturing. The were didn't have shells or they would have snakeskin shells. She stopped laying all together over the winter. Now that spring came she consistently lays the loveliest terra cotta colored eggs with dark speckles. If this is a young pullet she most likely just needs some more time to mature. Keep a good watch on your coop during this time and don't let your girls get in the habit of eating these off eggs. Good luck!

They are about 19 months old. That was our origional through that one of them was eating them but 95% sure thats not the case. As there is no sign of egg mess in the straw.

We thing it is 1 of the nova browns, were pretty sure its not one of the leg horns as hy lay very dark brown eggs slightly ob longed. But this is a light to mid brown egg thats normal egg shaped. If that makes sense

There are some illnesses and parasites that can cause this. I just haven't researched them because I have never had this issue myself.
