I have a small flock of 4 hens and they’re all new layers . 2 of them (marans) haven’t started laying . But today my olive egger laid a soft shell egg. It was broken on the coop floor and not even in the nesting box. It was the 3rd egg she has laid . It has been HOT in Minnesota where I live so I was wondering if heat has to do with it. Is this a common thing that happens with new layers , do I need to worry?
I have my girls on 18% layer crumble with oyster shells off to the side.

First photo is of the egg I found today second photo is what I have found the previous couple days and last photo is the girl herself noodle

It sounds like typical new-laying stuff. My EE did the same, and she’s an egg-laying machine now.

Does she have access to oyster shell, and is she eating it?
