Hi everyone,

I was away to clean out the coop and noticed these two things. It almost looks like the membrane from an egg but with no shell?

I have 10 chickens and 7 are laying, 3 should start soon, they are only 21 weeks.

All other hens are laying fine.

I have checked them and they all seem well within themselves, eating, drinking, normal poo’s etc

They always have access to layers pellets, grit/oyster shells and free roam for 12 hours a day.

Have I done something wrong?

Thank you!

Probably one of your early layers trying to work things out. Soft shelled eggs are a common glitch. And they often lay them all over the yard because they don't know they're laying an egg. It should work itself out.

However, if it becomes a more common/ persistent issue it can indicate other problems, such as calcium deficiency. Some hens are also more prone to it than others genetically.

Thank you! I have never seen this before so I panicked.

I will keep an eye out:)
