My favorite pullet Mimi is laying soft shelled eggs. The night before last I watched her lay one in their run and obviously the others were all over it. Last night I weren't down there at this time so I don't know if she laid one or not. Tonight I noticed her in which I call labor, so I took her out on the lawn and she had another soft shell egg. I have other pullets that are laying hard shelled eggs. Is this something she will work out of? They have oyster shell in a dish in their coop. Plus I've been baking and crushing their shells that we use and feeding it back. Is there something else I can do for her?

I'm experiencing the same thing with my ISA's. My first one laid 3 hard shelled eggs for the first 3 days. Then every other day she's been laying one or two soft shelled eggs late in the evening or during the night. I believe the heat plus her just beginning laying is the problem. She did not lay anything today or last night so I have my fingers crossed she will lay a normal egg tomorrow.

Yeah its been happening before they have been going into the coop for the night. I know I have 4 layers in the 12 since I got 3 eggs this morning and 1 around noon today. I'm just hoping it's her system trying to adjust.

Out of my 12 only one is laying. I initially thought 2 were because I found 2 soft eggs several times. I'm convinced now it's the same pullet. I really hope it straightens out soon and I hope my others start laying. They look like they should. The combs are so developed and look just like the one who is laying.

Just got another soft shelled egg tonight before they went on roost. That makes two on Thursday and one Tuesday and today

Try mixing the oyster shells in the feed. My young hens were laying soft shelled eggs and I tried giving them the oyster shells in a separate dish and they would not eat them. Once I mixed the shells into their feed they began to eat them and they no longer laid soft shelled eggs.

I'm currently giving then oyster shell In a separate container but they aren't really eating it. I was planning to switch to layer pellet once they all started laying. However, I'm thinking about switching them to layer today.

Same here! They peck at it a little but not alot. I just bought a smaller bag of feed, their starter/grower. I think going to pick up a bag of layer feed and mix it. I was determined to leave them on regular feed till they were all laying. But thinking it's time to mix. I don't want to change them suddenly. Tomorrow I think I am going to scramble an egg with crushed shells in it and take Mimi put and get her to eat it. Maybe I will get a hard shell one from her. Lol
