Soft Shell Hanging From Vent

Hi-I have a one year old pullet who laid a soft egg today. She has at least part of the shell hanging from her vent currently. I can give her a soak, but I don't have epsom salt-how important is that?

The same I was hoping a good soak would move it along but no such luck. I'm getting some advice to apply some olive oil or mineral oil and try to gently pull it. I guess I'll try that tomorrow. I was afraid that pulling on it too much would cause other issues. She is able to poop, she is drinking and eating, just a little more mellow than normal, quieter... She's usually pretty chatty.

I would gently pull it out. I would also administer calcium and watch for signs of illness. An egg breaking inside can cause an infection.
