Soft shelled egg and crop not emptying? Stress?

Anyway, the legbar also had a full squishy crop, feels like a balloon, it didn't appear to empty much overnight.

I can still palpate what I think is an egg. She's standing up though so I'm wondering if it's soft and she doesn't feel like she needs to lay it.
Crop is still full of liquid
Her abdomen itself feels fine in the sense that there isn’t ascites. I can just feel an egg shaped mass, it just doesn’t feel like it has a shell. I can cup it with my hand between her back legs.
You can feel an egg while palpating her on the outside? Have you felt inside the vent to feel for an egg?

If you're feeling it in the abdomen (below the vent between the legs) then she may have laid internally or she has some other reproductive disorder and what you are feeling is a mass. Let's hope not.

I would offer her supportive care of the calcium and poultry vitamins as well. The crop not emptying is likely due to whatever is going on the other end. I would make sure she has water for the day.

Keep us posted.

Thanks everyone. I went and felt a couple other hens and while similar, it does seem the legbar may have "something" in the abdomen/between her legs/below the vent. Hard to say.

She's definitely perkier then she was this morning. The weather isn't very nice today, cold and windy so I may just keep her inside so I can check on her.
She's got water now. Other than the crop you wouldn't know there was anything wrong with her.

I've got Baytril but I don't want to start her on antibiotics unless completely necessary. I don't think the soft shelled egg broke inside of her, more like it came out, rolled down my jacket and broke when it hit the ground.

She laid a second soft shelled egg. I don’t know if it broke coming out or if she broke it. She had what looks like yolk on her face so it appears she ate it.

Fingers crossed she just went into overdrive and we’ll be back to normal.

She’s perky, is drinking, and I offered her a piece of the cats wet food and she pretty much took my finger with it.

It's good that she was able to expel the egg.
I would follow up with a dose of calcium, some poultry vitamins and put her back with the flock if she is perked up enough to join and is not picked on.
Check her crop first thing in the morning before she has had anything to eat/drink - hopefully it will be empty.

Just an update!

I put her back out with her friends last night, they came running over as if to say "Where were you all day?!"
Her crop was empty this morning. I was at work all day but I didn't find any hard or soft eggs from her. I gave her some more calcium this morning, made sure they had lots of oyster shell, the egg shells from my breakfast, and some broken calcium +D3 pills.

She's acting totally normal. Gave me quite the dirty look when I stopped her coming down the ramp this morning to check her crop. And was the first one at the gate when I got home from work.

Fingers crossed her crop empties again and we get some normal eggs in the next few days.

Glad to hear this! Thank you for the update:)
