Soft shelled egg and this???

It had egg white consistency inside with a few layers of material around and then outside was crisper like a shell a bit.

We’re in south western Canada. Birds get organic layer feed and suitable table scraps sometimes. And they free range but have been locked in more often at the moment to try to get them to lay in their new nest boxes instead of the bushes.
The layer feed is a whole grain type feed or a crumble or pellet?

Having at least 2 birds with these type issues is enough to take a hard look at what your feeding and change it. Stop the treats...all of them.

Hello again, so I stopped the treats and made sure I had a high protein feed and my chickens are acting way better, growing feathers back faster and overall seem healthier again. Even more consistent laying. The one with the swollen abdomen is even back to herself.

But now my rooster, who has always been healthy, is sick. I noticed he was scratching his head more than before for a few days and now he is letting his head fall down, shaking his head and super lethargic, for the last 3 days. My one hens wing damage is even recovering because he is not mating.
I checked him for lice and mites and I didn’t see anything obvious but in a few other hens I saw what could have been a few mites near the vent area? It just looked like black pepper and a few small bites near the vent.

Do you think my roosters symptoms could be due to mites? And if so how do I have to clean the coop for mites?
I am in Canada so only product available is dr. Doom

Or is it possibly just a sickness making it’s way slowly through my flock?

Sorry if this question doesn’t belong here, just trying to get things sorted out.

Can you post a link to the Dr Doom product so I can see what it's made out of or what it is?

Can you take a clear video of how your rooster is shaking his head and upload it to YouTube?

I can’t upload a video, I’m on dial up internet and it would take forever but he is doing a shake occasionally looking like as if something were tickling him. But mainly just standing quietly with his head down. I will attach a picture. Before he was noticeably sick he was scratching his head with his foot.
