In the past week on two occasions when collecting my eggs I have noticed that there has been a soft shelled discoloured egg.
Dont know which hen is laying this, nor am I sure how I would find out.
Is this something I should be worried about, is there something I should be looking for in any of my hens or is it just down to the winter season.

Be certain you have free choice oyster shells or calcium of some sort.

I actually mix mine in with the layer feed. Haven't had any soft shells since.

Had my chickens for 5 months and this is the first time i've had a problem, there has been no change in their feed so figured there may be something wrong the fact that this has occurred suddenly.

Excellent article Miss Dottie! Added it to the favorites list for future reference, a million thanks!
