We have a dud. She has been laying ONLY soft shelled eggs for weeks now. The other girls are laying normal eggs, so it's not a matter of lack of calcium.

What are some causes of this? Is our only option to cull her? She is about a year old and so sweet, we hate to cull her....but she is messing up the nest box every day.

She, as an individual, may need additional calcium and protien... you could try feeding her off on her own a couple times a day with extra calcium added to her food. See what happens. No need to cull if it is something easily fixed.
