Solar electric fencing advice wanted

I use 75 watts worth of amorphous solar panels charging two marine batteries. Hooked to the batteries is a Patriot P20 120/12 volt 2 joule output energizer connected to 800 feet of electric poultry netting. The system is grounded using two ground grounds.

Yes, within reason the system works. However a smart coyote, wolf, cougar or bear can knock the fence down with little effort. Some can jump over it too. It helps to have an LGD within the perimeter to add further discouragement.

I have used the solar powered charger to keep my horses in sections of my pasture. works okay. I have used it for chicken protection, never had a penetration.

I have an electric net fence from FarmTek.com run by a 25 Mile 6 volt low impedance solar charger. Never had any problems with a dog/coyote going through or over it. They get hit 1 time on the nose and run for cover with their tails between their legs. Also electric fences are supposed to be effective against bears too. Had the fence for a year and some months so far and it works great. I would definitely buy one again if I was to have a second coop. Peace of mind means a lot to me, even if the hot fence was a little pricey.
