Solar Powered/Heated Waterers?

I have been reading through other messages and searches, but I have not found the answer.

Our coop is too far from the house to run an extension cord. I have my electric poultry net fencing run off of a solor powered battery. I am trying to find a waterer I can hook up to this unit to keep the water from freezing. We also have our goats fenced in an electric fence powered by a larger solor powered battery. Love to be able to keep their water from freezing too.

I dont think they make what you wont, nor do I think the battery would stay charged trying to run it if they did.

If you follow the directions in this post: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1479486 And use a 1157 bulb(pre90s tail light) an socket from the auto parts store in place of the bulb there using, then you should be able to hook it to your fence battery. You could also try a dash light bulb. They create less heat but pull way less power so your solar charger may have a better chance of keeping up.

You don't really need the tin can. car bulbs can be put directly in the water. They would heat the water better that way. Not any real worry about getting shocked. You may need a new plug every year but there cheep.

I tried to find the same thing you are wanting. But the big water heaters pull 1500 watts. That would take a solar panel that a small house would require. The best thing I have found for stock waterers are the bird bath heaters. They use 250 watts. They may not keep the whole thing thawed but enough. As far as for chickens I use a light bulb under my watering bowl. That is only 60 watts. You could also purchase the buckets for dogs that are heated. I am not sure of the watts for them.
