Went to my local Southern States today as I needed Oyster Shell for my girls. I also needed bedding and decided to try out sawdust instead of the pine chips. So, I stopped at the register to inquire about size and prices. I paid and clerk told me the loading guys would have my stuff. I usually get it myself if it's in the store, however, this time, I thought I would just drive up and let the loaders get my items.
Once home I grabbed the "oyster shell" bag (They look the same) and opened it. I started to mix in the shell with my feed. It looks awfully dark!
It is GRIT!
Will this hurt my girls?
They are from 1-2 years old. I've never raised chicks before, just pullet layers. I tried to pick out what I could, but it's really mixed in.
Ugh, what a day.
