I had a disasterous quail hatch. Two Coturnix hatched, one died after hatch. I'm hoping one more will hatch but I'm not holding out hope. Two more pipped but died before zipping. What can I do for this lonely little quail? I've been trying to find some other quail chicks but I'm not having any luck. I do have 2, 2 day old Bantam Ameraucana chicks. Would that be ok temporarily until I can find some quail friends for it?

I did find someone that has some Coturnix hatching on the 23rd. Will it be ok to put 4-5 of them in with the one I have? It will be one week old then. I use a heat plate, so I could raise one side and lower the other, so heat source isn't an issue.
...sorry. one of my pipped babies hatched last night, eve of day 17. Woke up at 0400 and found him in there fluffing up. I grabbed him and put him in another bator I have set up and running without the trays so he could finish fluffing. Came back at 0800 and found 2 more hatched and drying off. Put them in the other bator as well and put the first one in the brooder. 4 more have pipped and then rested pretty much all day and now are becoming active again. The rest of the eggs are just sitting there and it's the end of day 18. I'll give them most of the day tomorrow before I'll get too impatient and go in & check them out. I'm doing much better than last time regarding patience... I think it will be fine to put all the babies in together, they're young and theres not much age difference. Normally I might worry about the younger ones getting picked on, but in your case he is outnumbered, so I'm thinking it will be ok...just my thoughts tho. Def watch them the first day or so.
