We have 27 chicks - 16 are either black or red sex links so I'm pretty sure it's not one of them. 3 are RIR which at this point show all signs of being hens. However.....8 are EEs and at least two of these are much bigger than the rest of the chicks. They're almost 7 weeks old and one of them, I think the gray one, has been making attempts at crowing for the past week. I put a video camera on them for an hour this morning after hearing crowing for a good 15 minutes and of course whoever it is didn't crow once while the camera was on!!!

I don't know if I have a crowing hen or a much-needed roo for my flock

would anyone like to take a guess?

I hope the black & white is the boy. I think "he" will be a pretty roo. But I'd have sworn I saw the gray one crowing two days ago! I'm hoping to catch them in the act.

That's the one I think is trying to crow. He/she has the larger red comb but the feathers don't seem right - while the black/white has the feathers but no comb!

EE hens can have rooster like feathers. The black and white looks very hen colored,

Agree - the black & white one is a pullet (can tell by her coloring) & the red & white EE in the first picture is a cockerel (large comb).
