I'm super excited so I just have to tell the world!!! We decided to put 20 of our own eggs in the bator from our flock 7 days ago just to try them out (our chickens are pets not breeding stock really). 9 pekin eggs, 4 cuckoo silkies and 7 cuckoo maran eggs.... and after candling last night -but without wanting to count my chickens - all the pekin and silkie eggs were fertile!!

: (I couldnt see into the maran eggs to check!!)

My pekin cockerel is the only male in with my mums pekin girls which means he is soon to be a daddy-o! And my grandbabies hatch in 2 weeks!! Im not sure what the chicks will be like though

He is a lemon cuckoo pekin (the most beautiful one i've ever seen... and he was free!!) called Lemony Snickett (Lemony/Snicker-doodle/Snicker-Knickers)
The two girls laying in the pen are a gold frizzle pekin called Lizzie (after Queen Elizabeth I)
and a millefleur pekin called Sunny

Could be interesting! Any ideas what i might get??
How is the frizzle gene inherited, is it a recessive gene?

I'm also now wondering what we will get if he treads with the other bantams when they come into lay.... we also have:
Lemon Cuckoo pekin called Noodle
Mottled Black pekin called Violet
2 pekins that are a very gold/brown colour who almost have tails laced with either grey or black .... really not sure of the colour!! (I will get photos) called Beatrice and Josaphine
Another lemon cuckoo chick (not named) and an unknown black chick (not named) who is there to keep the bantam chick company!
Also:
A black silkie known as Squeaky and a gold silkie calle Poppet. Although we just aquired a lovely gold silkie pair so we are planning to put Squeaky and Poppet with them sooner rather than later.

I will try to get pictures of the Pekins today but lets see what people can come up with as to what I might be getting
