Some kind of Cochin I think

Got this chick when we bought a bunch of Black Copper Maran chicks from a local person. It has feathered legs and is black. The maran chicks got big and this thing stayed really small which is why I thought it was a cochin of some sort. Now it is about as big as my Cream Legbar hens. It is mostly black and has some orange on the neck and wings/back.

He looks like a Marans to me. Cochins have yellow legs.

Thanks. It was so much smaller than all the rest that I wasn't sure. Even now it is still smaller than my other marans I got at the same time. And he has never flown that I've seen. Is always walking and doesn't roost with my other chickens

He looks like a Marans, just stunted or retarded or something like that. I'd cull him---you're certainly not going to use him for breeding, so why keep him?

I think he is a Marans as well. Just stunted for some reason, could be sterile. Agree with donrae, if you keep him I wouldn't use him for breeding.

White skin on that bird. You have a Black Copper Marans. Could be a bit stunted, if he was a lower ranking chick that didn't get as much feed as the others.
