Some Meat and some Egg-laying chickens or all Dual-purpose chickens?

i like brown eggs and these chickens are good to eat if you process at the right time. when they get enough meat on them and before they get tough.

These Chickens??? You forgot to include the breed.


I don't think there is anything bad about dual purpose. I just pointed out the best bang for the buck when raised properly. I did point out that they were not the easiest too.​

I got some good dual purposes, and once the good hens reach their older age, they will be decent stew hens. T

For me, I'd rather have the dual purpose, because if I get leghorns they will not have nearly a good enough weight at end of lay to make a good carcass. This way, I can cull off low production hens and roosters and still have meat for the family. Seems more efficient to me.
