Some pics of my diy coop, and things I have changed/plan to change since joining byc.

I would suggest making the nest boxes lower as well. The girls really do like a bit of privacy when they are laying and appreciate a more "intimate" setting. I've seen some coops that put curtains on their nest boxes. I know my girls use the most private nest box more often.

Since they already like that one corner I'd just cobble together a nest and pop it in that corner - easier than trying to convince them a different spot is better.

For branches as roosts, I'd say aim for roughly 2" diameter, that's a pretty good size (a little smaller or larger is fine).

I'd add more ventilation but that's just me. I'm literally out of wall space but wouldn't mind another window, ha!

Thank you so much for your feedback!

I was actually thinking of just putting a nest box where they like it. And adding a little door there for easy egg retrieval. Let them sleep up in the boxes if they want. I just closed my girls in for the night and 8 of them are on the original branch perch, one is on the new 1x1 furring strip I added today, and one is cuddled up in one of the boxes. I love seein 8 birds on a branch like that. Roo right in the middle. So cute!

I got the sawzall battery charging rn...adding another window tomorrow :)
