Someone found a chicken and gave it to me

someone found this chicken and gave him or her to me about 2 days ago, after looking on facebook for the owner they still had no luck.
Now im curious about the sex of him or her.. i seen this chicken run in a circle with its wing down?
And i have noticed it bites when you go to close.. very timid and shy aswel.
And what gets me is someone has cut the tail feathers off you can kind of tell in the picture the tail is cut straight accrss..

Also the neck feathers have been plucked out aswel.

From the picture I’m thinking it’s a pullet. But the fact that it’s doing the rooster dance points to a cockerel. Can you get a picture of the tail? It sounds like someone deliberately cut the tail and plucked pointy hackle feathers to make this bird look like a pullet.

I’m going to go with roo as a guess here, no solid experience other than the following and please anyone else feel free to say otherwise here:
- Age looks at least 12 weeks
- Possible foot spurs (?)
- bit of droop to the tail/saddle feathers before that absolutely terrible hack job!!!!
- hack job just seems very suspicious to me

Is your new addition starting to settle and make any crowing noises?

This is a rooster that someone doctored to look like a hen. The spurs are a giveaway. Although hens sometimes develope spurs. I can’t tell if the wattles or comb have been removed or cut smaller to give the appearance of a hen. The legs are thick. I don’t see any pointy saddle feathers so I’m guessing those were plucked also. Beautiful bird nonetheless.

I take it back the “spurs” look like a fifth toe. The dancing in a circle with a wing down is only done by cockerels and roosters. You have a beautiful boy.
