someone help- black crud on chicken

1 day ago my chicken looked hunched over and lethargic- I thought it was just the heat- Its 38 degrees here right now!

Today I found it lying on its side and thought it was dead. But its still breathing, barley.

Basically I noticed this on its sides under the wings… any one have any idea what this is? Is it an injury? Our rooster has just started his rooster like duties… or could it be lice?

It could be an injury from the rooster's spurs. Is it raised like a growth or just scabbed over like a scrape? I would clean it with some antiseptic soap, and apply an antibiotic ointment to it once or twice daily. The others may peck at it, so isolate her if that happens. Some gentian violet or iodine can be applied to mask any red to prevent pecking.
