Thanks everybody. Our guineas, who we've name "The Goonie Squad" are very precious to us. Little did we know when we got those eggs from someone on BYC 2 years ago that they would touch our lives so thoroughly.
They've alerted us to poisonous snakes....and not so poisonous ones. They've let us know where there were predators around...or if there was a stuffed animal left out by my grandson that just looked like a predator. <giggle> They've provided us with eggs....and lots of ear splitting noise! They've cleared our property of ticks....but when I picked up the one from the road yesterday, I immediately noticed a tick on me.
They're funny, crazy, silly, wonderful birds that my family adores! We love them. My grandson, Dillon, who has Aspergers syndrome, loves the guineas. He spends hours outside with them, talking to them, feeding them treats, and chasing them. He even has a guinea painting that a BYC'r painted for him on his bedroom wall.
Their his passion. When he saw that one had been killed, he asked, "Why Mom? Why would someone hurt one of my guineas?" I had so many answers running through my mind that I wanted to spew out. Instead I told my 9 year old precious one. "Because he has no heart." And what did he say? "I'll give him a piece of mine, Mom"
Oh Dillon, sweet Dillon....the world needs more like you.
