[Yes, it is a terrible thing. I saw no indications that this teenager would act like that around my chicken. And he is gone from the property.] I have 5 Americauna chickens that are 2 years old. One of them was kicked in the side. She immediately limped and could not move about well. I spoke with a vet several times on the phone and he said that as long as she could put weight on the leg to wait and see. Well, it has been a month and she has recovered her strength and her walking looks normal. But she has laid several eggs without shells. [I had already supplemented the diet with the oyster shells.] Now she is laying eggs, but they look like the shell is scrunched up into a wad. I think that the soft part is coming out, but they eat it, leaving the wad of shell behind. the shell part is all smooched into this elongated wad. I was going to bring her to the vet on Friday. Is there something that they can do for her? I don't care about the eggs, she is a pet and I want her to be okay, but I don't want to go to the vet if there is nothing that they can do about it anyway. Any ideas?

Welcome!

Sorry about the chicken, but if the reproductive tract is now messed up from the injury, the only thing to stop it so to say would be a hysterectomy.

What makes people take out their anger on innocent things.

Such a
shame. He may need some help releasing his anger. Hope your
chicken recovers !

I had two teenagers throw rocks at my chickens that were free-ranging on my property, I went after them and told them to stay away from my home and my chickens and if I saw it again I would call the parents. I'm so sorry that this happened, hang in there!

Do his parents know? Seems to me the boy has some anger issues and his parents need to know about them so they can help (hopefully).
The boy needs to understand that he can't just kick whatever he wants, whenever he wants.
Also, he needs to be held accountable and help pay for the vet bill.
Sorry I don't know what to tell you about your girl. I certainly hope she is OK and heals properly. I love Ameracaunas.
