Someone, or something is taking my tomatoes at night

That's the only thing I could think of too. I haven't seen a coon around here for years, but I have seen a possum at night once in a while. Maybe it's a young one?? If it's a possum then that little chicken wire fence I just made to wrap around the plants isn't going to do it. They'll climb over the fence and get right into it. Sneaky little varmints - that last tomato wasn't even ready yet...

That's a pig for you! No red, no camera for that.............but I do kinda wish I had one. Even just to take a peek at what goes on at night around here. Some nights I hear strange sounds - I'd love to see some nature action in my backyard.

Hi! My poor old chickens just got blamed for eating half of a knee-high ripe tomato growing through the garden fence. I KNEW no chickens had been up there *lately* and threatening them was unnecessary.
HA! I caught a squirrel eating another tomato the very next morning just at daylight.
I hope you catch your 'tomato thief' soon.

Last year my new pear trees had about a dozen pears. Just as they were getting big, all of them disappeared at the same time. Not a leaf out of place. Since it was such a little tree I knew it had to be either a person (unlikely) or something small. I have since discovered that squirrels will take them.
