My son lives with his fiancee and two friends in a huge house. Between the 4 of them, they have 4 dogs. He just called me about an hour ago from the emergency vet because one of his dogs and both of his roommates' dogs suddenly became violently ill: tremors, fever, vomiting. My son's Rottweiler seized and went unconscious. The roommates' dogs are still conscious, but vomiting and shaking uncontrollably. The only dog unaffected is my son's border collie, who was inside with them when things went to hell.

They first thought they ate a toxic plant because all 4 dogs are on different foods. But in the backyard, they found a half eaten dog chew - one of those hollow ones - stuffed with peanut butter. They don't give their dogs those treats. The vet is having the treat analyzed, but it looks like someone threw poisoned treats over their fence. The sheriff has been called.

So far, the dogs are alive, but the Rottie, Laika, is in bad shape.

I am in shock. He is devastated. I'm just sitting here waiting to hear updates. I want to call him and ask, but I don't want to add to their stress. And it's not about me, but I'm shaking I am so worried. My son and his fiancee love those dogs.

Had to tell someone. Had to get it out there. I figured animal lovers would get how devastating this is.

Terrible. Where do they live?

Terrible. Where do they live?
In a really upscale area near Sacramento in CA.

If we figure out who it was, there will be consequences. That's all I'm saying about that. Consequences. Someone in the area will have had cameras for sure. My son does not, unfortunately.

They've had issues with neighbors, but he's well within his limits, and they all take excellent care of their dogs. The neighbor has complained about noise during the day when the dogs are playing outside, so they all tried to work with the neighbor.

But that's who I would bet it was.

I just can't................

People are so sick! I’ve heard of a couple other cases of poisoning fairly recently. It was a similar thing where they tossed treats or meat over fences. Seems to be becoming more common recently for some reason. I read of one where someone didn’t like pit bulls and tried to kill the neighbor’s! Just sickening. Thankfully in that case I believe the dog was alright and I hope your son’s are too! :hugs I totally get the worry though! I worry with Brew because he looks a lot like one now that he’s older but thankfully we have great neighbors that would never do something like that (and one of their dogs is actually his best friend lol) and everyone we meet on walks, etc. is incredible so I don’t worry so much now. But still. If anything happened to him, I would be beside myself!
