So I might be getting a couple Cubalayas (one rooster one hen) from a neighbor who got his from Sandhill. I know nothing about that breeder and I know nothing about the breed. I have a two story a frame coop that is probably about 6x8. But I’m on 5 acres near woods so I could probably let them free range during day if they are predator aware.

What do I need to know?

Sandhill has good birds. I assume they will be good in any good chook coop.
From what I've read, Cubalayas are pretty friendly, good free- rangers, good broodies and mums, and just slightly feisty.
And of course gorgeous!! I've always wanted a few.

most of my original cubalayas came from sandhill. like any other breed you should cull ruthlessly the first few years that you keep them. yes they free range very well. kept in small pens their pecking order can be extreme
