wow, some people are just so cruel. I know exactly how you are feeling, one of my neighbors put a bowl of antifreeze out in my yard andit killed my dog, and a whole bunch of other wildlife, we didn't see the bowl until after, the vet had told us it was antifreeze that was killing her. she did it just because she thought we kept calling her name, but we were calling my dogs name which was similar, still you don't do that. she was an old lady. some people are just bold. she was the best dog to, never ran away followed you, etc, it jus saddened us as to why someone would want to kill her.its a good thing that you cleaned up the shavings, and were able to save your animals.

Not trying to hijack this thread at all but I wanted to reply to your comment. Actually we had asked everyone around us how they felt about us having the birds there and everyone was ok with it, even the people that this man lives with. I think he is a meth head but can't prove it and really don't care. I guess the FBI is now hiring chickens to do spy on the neighborhood dope heads or so he thinks.

My questions is why on earth would you want to put anything in your body that would make you think that the farm animals are coming to take you away?

Okay back to the original thread....I think the idea of a nanny cam is a good one. Maybe even some of those heavy duty super bright lights that are on a motion sensor to scare the beejeezus outta of them.

I won't get into the details of the antisocial personality disorder (sociopaths on the more severe end of the scale), but there are people of all ages who are devoid of conscious.

Regarding the 40 year old who thought the chickens were watching him; could be drug related or a mental health problem.

I've some experience working with the above populations.

There are many brands of safe antifreeze out now days, so it could be they used some of that unawares. The fact your birds are still alive might indicate that, since it doesn't take much at all to kill a full grown dog, let alone a chick. If that's the case then the joke is on them.

In dogs and cats, antifreeze death is not immediate. It causes crystals to form in the urethra, blocking urine output, causing kidney/liver failure and a general toxic buildup in the body. I would still keep a close eye on your chickens/chicks. Only takes a drop to kill. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they didn't get any of it.

Momofdrew...If you were closer, I'd offer to come sit in your yard & if they came back fill them full of buckshot. There is no excuse for that manner of cruelty.

Anyway, I'm glad your fluffy butts are fine and I hope the turd/s that did this get caught. Animal cruelty of any kind is nigh on to unforgivable in my eyes.
