Something attached to newly hatched chick's leg??

Hi, wondering if anyone can shed some light...

Newly hatched chick has something attached to it's leg which it's dragging around...it was originally stuck to the shell. I'm afraid to pull it off in case it causes bleeding. Any thoughts on what this is, and what, if anything I should do?

Sometimes that happens - it's just the waste from inside the egg. If it doesn't come off by itself by the time the chick is dry you can snip it off with some sterilized scissors. Don't try and pull it off.

Yup, sure enough it did. Chick is doing great...suprisingly very active for a newly hatched chick compared to the others.
