I agree. Maybe try some welded wire. I dug a foot deep trench in the more vulnerable places and buried some welded wire and attached it to the bottom of the fence with hog rings. I have had some attempted diggings but they were quickly aborted when the predator came in contact with the electric wire. I had a bobcat dig under a fence years ago and kill 14 birds. After that the electric wires went up.

Last night I got another bobcat on video by my chick/grow-out coop. As long as it doesn't bother my birds I won't bother it. I'm going to keep an eye out tonight. I moved some of the cameras around. It went towards my pond. Wondering if it may have drank out of it. Got a camera on it tonight.

I’m also guessing it was a dog. Predators usually kill for food, a dog will kill for the fun of doing it. I would put up some type of game camera if possible so you know what you are dealing with. Whatever it is will most likely come back for more.

I. So sorry for your loss. What a terribly sad thing I have 12g 2x4 welded wire over my hardware cloth. Nothing short of a bear is getting in there. Just a thought.

From the picture it didn't look like a very heavy gauge wire.
