Something got our chickens!

Opened the curtains this morning to see the house pulled out of the end of the chicken tractor (it was our temp set up, our coop is ALMOST done. we had 9...2 seem to be ok and got lucky and are still in the tractor, I found 3 bodies that aren't damaged a bit that I can tell, one has a little blood around the mouth. and 1 that is in peices. 3 are totally missing. What would have done this??? Neighborhood dogs or coyotes? Which would just kill and leave them? But maybe they ate 3 of them?? There is no blood, but I can't find them anywhere! I am so sad

So sorry to hear this. It's strange that there is no sign of damage, there must be some marks hidden under the feathers, unless perhaps a dog threw them and broke their necks without actually biting? A sad mystery.

If the tractor was just made of chicken wire, several predators are strong enough to pull it open. Raccoon, dog, fox, bobcat.

1 eaten, 3 taken home to the nest, and probably plans to retrieve the rest of them, but you interrupted.
