Something grabbed one of our boys last night!

One of our new (rescued) adult peacocks seems to have had a close encounter with a predator last night.
He's missing a bunch of his train feathers. Poor guy!

He won't let me get close to him (he wasn't very friendly before but now more nervous), and there is definitely no way I could catch him. From what I can see, he seems to be walking well, he has no sign of injury, and I definitely can't see any blood or anything out of the ordinary.
I'm wondering how worried I should be, and if there's anything I should look for (i.e. change in behavior)?

(edit)--I got a little better look at him and I think he's missing some actual tail feathers, too (in addition to train feathers). Can they fly without tail feathers?

(another edit!)--I just saw him fly up onto the roof which makes me feel much better...and answered my flying question.

Their tail feathers come out very easy when they get pulled on, i last a male with a full train to illness and plucked his train in like 5 minutes, they just about fell out.
Glad he is OK , he will be very jumpy for a while but i bet he will be fine.
Mine come flying home sometimes when something spooks them, other times they follow/chase wild critters like deer,rabitts,red tail hawks.

Thank you so much for the reply.
You're completely right. He already seems to be calming down, and he appears to be healthy (but certainly not as attractive to the ladies).
I think that the whole incident upset me more than him!

By the way, your comment about them chasing other animals made me laugh, because I saw one of the 2 year old guys charging a cottontail rabbit the other day...
