I was just standing at my back door staring out through the snow to the spot where I plan on building the coop later this spring.

Something struck me, but I don't know if it's a problem or not. Somebody told me chickens are sensitive to a lot of things. I can't remember all of them. However it seems they mentioned low PH. I was wondering about this. The coop and run will be directly under a big blue spruce tree. Is that going to pose a problem with the chickens picking at the needles with all the acid and stuff? I haven't a clue so that's why I'm wondering.

A friend in Interior Alaska who's taking the veterinary assistant classes, too, has Buff Orphingtons and Comets in her "neck of the woods" which is deep Spruce and has no problems...one of my coops with a run is now placed next to the cottonwood stand as of last weekend, I thought they'd like that, the shade, the leaves blowing by...the beauty...

My coop and run are completely under big pines. No problems other then branches falling on the netting. The chickens are all healthy though.

Thanks!

I was trying like hell to figure out where I was going to put it if it couldn't go there.
