Tonight I went into the coop and maran looks to be in distress
I went in this morning to make sure everyone had food/water because it was a hot day today (we are in WI so 88 is considered a very hot day
) nothing abnormal. My daughter checked on them before lunch, she said one of the chickens was laying down and had poop on it's back but it got up when she closed the coop door. I didn't think much of it, thought maybe she was under the roost at the wrong time. Go out there tonight and everyone is roosted except my poor maran
she does have poop on her back, not her own and not a ton. No obvious injuries. She is breathing heavily and laying down, not on her legs or using her legs and though she can lift her head she seems almost tired? Weak? And she lets her head slowly fall and lay on the ground. I tried giving her water but didn't want to drown her either. Not sure what to do
she hasn't laid an egg in a few days but I figured with the heat this week that was normal. She is my favorite girl, when they arrived as chicks last February I was sure she was dead and I brought her back, hand fed her and carried her around until she was acting normal. I will be so sad if she dies :*(
