The naval is just below the vent, maybe half an inch. However, if it is a meat bird, and you can't see this swelling absess looking thing at the rear, at a week old or so, it's probably just being a cornish x. They do have much larger rear ends that can look swollen. If it eats up a storm, it is likely best for dinner. 8 weeks is target date for a 5-6 lb bird on the table, 8-10lbs alive.
Of course, if it is not a meat chick, and is a regular type, then there still could be something wrong. You can post a pic of it and that may help in ID.
