The naval is just below the vent, maybe half an inch. However, if it is a meat bird, and you can't see this swelling absess looking thing at the rear, at a week old or so, it's probably just being a cornish x. They do have much larger rear ends that can look swollen. If it eats up a storm, it is likely best for dinner. 8 weeks is target date for a 5-6 lb bird on the table, 8-10lbs alive.

Of course, if it is not a meat chick, and is a regular type, then there still could be something wrong. You can post a pic of it and that may help in ID.

It's the one to the right

I saw it eat and drink a little bit ago. I hope it makes it.
The other orange ones in there don't look like this. This one is light yellow and the rest are orangy with smaller feet and different colored wings. This one has whitish wings the others have orangish wings.

Your Barred Rock chicks looks males too because of the large white patch on their heads.

If you bought them from Rural King as str run, your best bet is that they are mostly males, something that the hatcheries usually do to get rid of the surplus chicks they got in the bators. I've gotten folks so disappointed in the RIR, Buff Orps and Rocks that they got all males or one pullet and rest of them are males. Sad, isnt it?
