Something killed my chickens

When I opened one of my coops up this morning all 24 chickens were dead and one missing. Saw feathers outside the coop. My coop is a shed type with dog kennel chain link mesh around the bottom and netting on top. Have had this up and running along with my other 3 coops for over 8 years never had a problem. This morning it happened. My theory is a mink or weasel? There was 4 barnevelders and the rest were my OEGB family. Breaks my heart. Feathers everywhere in the coop and four of the girls heads were chewed on.

It does make me think of a weasel or something like that. Do you have an apron?

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I can imagine your heartbreak. Weasels are getting bad where I live too. I recently ran 1/2" wire over my 2" wire in the coop and run because of all the trouble people are starting to have in my area. They can get into anything smaller than that.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I can imagine your heartbreak. Weasels are getting bad where I live too. I recently ran 1/2" wire over my 2" wire in the coop and run because of all the trouble people are starting to have in my area. They can get into anything smaller than that.

The one missing tells you it wasn't a weasel.They can't carry them off.You probably have a fox.They'll kill them all then carry them back to their dens or bury them if they have time (before you discover them.)

The plastic you have wrapped around the bottom wouldn't stop a weasel however they're not able to lift or carry one over a 6 ft chain link pen.I would check my netting and see where its not attached properly.They can squeeze thru small openings. Please be vigilant about protecting the other chickens if you have anymore.It'll be back.
