Something ripped my hardware cloth!

Since it is pushed in I think impact of something fairly hard and sharp. If it was an animal I would think pulled out. Just an observation

Looks like somebody either tried to throw a rock thru it or tried to knock it out with a bat, tree limb, or club of some sort. I don't think predator at all.

After 2 nights, and no predators on the camera, I'm agreeing with all of the bat/rock/projectile folks. (though the Bigfoot, gremlin, and dogman theories have been entertaining) We cannot pinpoint what the object was, or who the guilty party is, but I for one am glad it wasn't a hungry predator....or cupachabra . Thanks for all your input!

The hardware cloth did its job. If that was chicken wire there would be a huge hole in there. Good job on building that strong. It paid off for you
