Something useful for the start of snake season...

It has always been absolutely baffling to me how so many people(esp. grown men) are absolutely terrified of snakes for no real reason, and are not at all hesitant to admit it. Maybe I was just born lacking the fear response to snakes, but it just feels really odd to me to see someone flipping out over something so tiny and so absolutely harmless. Most snakes couldn't hurt you even if they tried, they aren't out to get any of us, and physically they have quite pathetic capabilities, generally speaking. They are basically just a little face on a limbless body. It's just weird to me. Then again, who says I'm normal. :hmm LOL

My husband uses the excuse that he's afraid of them because when he was deployed to Iraq, he was the one going in the sewers looking for people and there were lots of snakes..actual venomous snakes. I can understand that, but I know he was afraid of them before being deployed as well. The rest of the guys I know, are just wimps.

I guess I got lucky growing up, my dad and uncles don't care one way or the other about snakes...they all will kill them, with the exception of my dad...but they aren't scared of them.

I almost lost my arm to these ginormous, vicious redbellies...there's a 3rd that I couldn't get to stay in my hand for the pic. I'm obviously lying about the ginormous and vicious part.
